RAMAPO, N.Y. (AP) - State police say no injuries are reported after a transit bus caught fire while traveling on the Thruway in New York City’s northern suburbs.

Troopers on the Thruway detail say the fire was reported around 6 a.m. Monday on a Rockland County transit bus that was headed north on Interstate 87 in the town of Ramapo. Police say they don’t know how many people were on the bus, which was pulled over onto the highway’s right shoulder between Exit 14A and Exit 14B.

The right and center northbound lanes were closed. The center lane reopened by 7:30 a.m. and the right lane was closed until around 8:15 a.m. while the damaged bus was removed from the scene.

There’s no indication yet what caused the fire.
