CLAYTON, Iowa (AP) - Authorities have identified the pedestrian who was killed after being hit by a train in northeast Iowa.

The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office says deputies and medics were dispatched in Clayton around 11:50 p.m. Saturday. The office says 37-year-old Jeffery Werger, of Garnavillo, was struck by a southbound train near Bill’s Boat Landing in Clayton. He was pronounced dead later at a hospital.

The incident is being investigated.
