NEW YORK (AP) - Police say a woman who uses a wheelchair has been slashed by an unknown assailant in New York City.

Authorities say the suspect cut the 42-year-old woman’s face early Sunday in front of a strip mall in the Upper Manhattan neighborhood of East Harlem before fleeing the scene.

Police say the attack appears to have been random. Officials don’t yet know what type of weapon was used in the attack.

The woman was taken to Lincoln Hospital for treatment.

Police have released surveillance footage showing a male suspect between 18 and 25 years old. They’re asking for the public’s help in finding and identifying him.
