MOORESVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Rescue workers are looking for a swimmer missing in Lake Norman.

Lake Norman Fire Department Chief Andy Weatherman told local media outlets that the search for the 29-year-old swimmer was suspended at dark Sunday.

Officials say the swimmer jumped off a boat in the water near Mooresville on Sunday. The missing person’s name has not been released.

Scott Strickland with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources commission says the water is very murky.

Officials said four people were on a boat when the missing person jumped into the water with two other people. The boat began to drift away and the missing person could not make it back.
