STAMPS, Ark. (AP) - A man who authorities say escaped from the Lafayette County jail has been captured after being found hiding in the attic of a house.

The Texarkana Gazette (https://bit.ly/1OdBV5q ) reports that 22-year-old Allester Stevens was arrested Monday in Stamps. Sheriff Obie Sims said he escaped from the jail on May 25.

According to Sims, deputies received a tip that Stevens was inside the home and he was found hiding under insulation. Authorities say it unclear whether the resident of the home, who was not there at the time of the arrest, was aware Stevens was inside the house.

Stevens had been previously charged with failure to appear and theft by receiving. Online court records do not list an attorney for Stevens.
