JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Mississippi Auditor Stacey Pickering says he will be on National Guard duty in Nevada for 90 days, starting in late June.

He tells The Associated Press on Wednesday that this will be his longest military deployment since becoming auditor in 2008.

The 47-year-old Pickering says he intends to be in daily contact with the Audit Department by phone or video conferencing, and says he has confidence in the department staff.

Pickering was on duty Wednesday in Florida with the 186th Air Operations Group. He says his deployment to Nevada is as an individual, not as part of the 186th.

He says a biography on the auditor’s website, which lists him in the 253rd Air Support Squadron, is outdated. That squadron is part of the Meridian-based 186th.
