COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (AP) - A Council Bluffs man has been charged with child endangerment after authorities found that 11 children were living in filthy conditions.

The Daily Nonpareil reports (https://bit.ly/1XbPNjb ) that Richard Simet is charged with neglect of a dependent person and a dozen counts of child endangerment. The same charges face 34-year-old Bobbi Simet, who authorities say lived with Richard Simet, though the two aren’t married.

Bobbi Simet’s attorney declined to discuss the Simets’ relationship or answer questions about the children, who range in age from 2 to 14. Court records don’t list a lawyer for Richard Simet.

Officials say they found the children’s home to be dirty, cockroach-infested and smelling like urine.

Sgt. Chad Meyers says the children were living in the home together through current and previous relations, but didn’t elaborate.
