PHILADELPHIA (AP) - An elderly man became trapped and died as fire swept through his home in Philadelphia’s Grays Ferry neighborhood.

The fire broke out in the two-story row house on South Taylor Street around 2 a.m. Thursday.

Firefighters tried to rescue the man, who was in his 90s, from a second floor bedroom. His name has not been released.

It took half an hour to bring the blaze under control.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
