BENTONVILLE, Ark. (AP) - A former Springdale police officer accused of misusing the Arkansas Crime Information Center for monetary gain has been arrested.

The Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette (https://bit.ly/1tkmvTx ) reports that the 42-year-old man, who has not been formally charged, was arrested Tuesday and released from the Benton County Jail Wednesday. He was arrested in connection with the release or disclosure of information to an unauthorized person.

An arrest affidavit says the man also worked with the Benton County Sheriff’s Office until he was fired, but he was not a law enforcement officer. The affidavit says the sheriff’s office was notified that the man was using a Sheriff’s Office Justice Exchange account and email address to access the database.

The suspect is accused of charging clients $100 to run names and access personal information from the database.
