BETHLEHEM, N.Y. (AP) - State police say a 43-year-old man has died in the collision of a motorcycle and a tractor-trailer that closed the northbound Thruway just south of Albany for hours.

Troopers say the crash happened shortly after noon Thursday on Interstate 87’s between Exits 22 and 23 in the suburban town of Bethlehem. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.

The driver of the truck was 62-year-old Randy Hilliker of Scotia. He was not injured.

Troopers say the accident is under investigation.

Authorities say the highway was reopened just before 5 p.m., but traffic remained heavy, as did southbound traffic.
