JOLIET, Ill. (AP) - Temperatures forecast to reach 100 degrees Friday have made Illinois high school sports officials change time schedules for softball and baseball finals to avoid the hottest times of the day.

The Illinois High School Association says four baseball and softball Class 3A and 4A semifinals to be played Friday at 10 a.m. and immediately after and 3 p.m. and immediately after now will be played at 9 a.m. and immediately after and 5 p.m. and immediately afterward. The baseball games will be played at Silver Cross Field in Joliet and the softball games will be played at Eastside Centre in Peoria.

IHSA Executive Director Craig Anderson says it’s common sense to take the precautions, including more tents for sun cover, icing stations and cooling fans.
