LAKE WYLIE, S.C. (AP) - Divers have recovered the body of a missing boater from Lake Wylie near the North Carolina-South Carolina state line.

Local media outlets report the body of 30-year-old Conroy Oliver was brought out of the lake Thursday morning.

Tracy Dula of the with North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission said Oliver told his friends he was going to jump off the boat he was on to take a swim. Dula said once Oliver was in the water, he began to struggle.

According to Dula, Oliver was not wearing a life jacket. He said Oliver’s friends tried to throw one to him but couldn’t reach him.

Officials say the body was found Wednesday night in 30 feet of water and was removed when it was safe for divers to go into the lake.
