HOLBROOK, Ariz. (AP) - The Navajo County attorney is seeking an outside review of the investigation into the fatal shooting of a woman by a Winslow police officer.

Brad Carlyon says he wants to dispel any talk of bias. He’s asked the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office to review the case once it’s submitted by the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

DPS spokesman Raul Garcia said Thursday that the investigation into the March 27 shooting is ongoing.

Authorities have said Loreal Tsingine (SIN’-uh-jin-ee) threatened Officer Austin Shipley with scissors before he fired five shots. He had responded to a report of shoplifting.

Carlyon says an agency with no ties with Winslow is better suited to review the investigation. He says that would increase confidence in the findings and help move Winslow forward.
