ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - A western New York man has pleaded guilty to brutally beating his girlfriend, who afterward posted a video online showing her singing a song about domestic violence from her hospital bed.

Thirty-five-year-old Jason Calvert pleaded guilty Wednesday in a Rochester courtroom to attempted second-degree murder for repeatedly punching Darrian Amaker during an hours-long attack at his home in late November.

The 23-year-old Amaker was knocked out but eventually regained consciousness and ran outside, where passers-by called police. Calvert was arrested later that day.

Amaker was hospitalized for four days for treatment of a concussion and severe facial fractures. During her stay while her face was still bruised and swollen, she recorded herself singing about domestic violence. The video she posted on Facebook in January.

Calvert will be sentenced July 20 to 15 years in state prison.
