TRINIDAD, Colo. (AP) - The Colorado State Patrol says a Las Animas County sheriff’s deputy has died after his patrol vehicle crashed into a parked SUV in Trinidad and rolled onto its side.

The patrol says 44-year-old Travis Russell died at a Trinidad hospital after the crash Tuesday morning.

Authorities say Russell was on duty but wasn’t responding to a call. The patrol says the SUV he was driving veered across traffic on a Trinidad street and hit an unoccupied vehicle.

State troopers are investigating.
