HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) - A Long Island man is heading to prison for killing his uncle and burying the body in the woods.

Newsday reports (https://nwsdy.li/1QIjSia ) Jonathan Roman was sentenced Monday to 18 years to life in prison in the death of 71-year-old John Frankowski in 2014. The 44-year-old Roman pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in December.

Prosecutors say he beat and strangled his uncle after an argument at Frankowski’s New Hyde Park home. Investigators say Roman then took the body to Coram and buried his uncle in the woods behind his home.

Frankowski was last seen alive on Feb. 27, 2014, and his body was found more than a week later.
