STREETSBORO, Ohio (AP) - Officials say an elderly man has been killed and three other people have been injured in a fire in northeast Ohio.

Authorities say the blaze broke out around 12:40 p.m. Monday in Streetsboro and the man was found dead about five feet from the home’s front door.

Investigators say the fire was accidental and was sparked by smoking materials dropped by the man on a chair.

Authorities didn’t immediately identify the victim.

The victim’s wife was taken to a hospital with burns and smoke inhalation. Officials say two other relatives were treated at the scene for similar injuries suffered while trying to save the man.

Investigators say the fire caused more than $100,000 in damage.
