ST CLAIR SHORES, Mich. (AP) - Police in suburban Detroit say the death of a young woman in a canal is being investigated as an accident.

A Honda Civic was pulled from a canal Wednesday in St. Clair Shores, between a seawall and a vacant boat well. The Macomb Daily (https://bit.ly/1Xgoi4E ) says family members have identified the victim as 22-year-old Acadia Cadotte of Clinton Township.

The car likely was in the water for days. Cadotte hadn’t been seen since last week. An autopsy and toxicology tests were ordered.

Police say the car apparently struck an electrical box near empty boat wells. The water leads to Lake St. Clair.
