HAZLETON, Pa. (AP) - Officials say a man has died in an eastern Pennsylvania rooming house blaze.

Hazleton Deputy Fire Chief Bryan Mandak says the fire broke out about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the three-story rooming house.

The chief says the flames traveled rapidly through the walls of the frame structure.

The Luzerne County coroner identified the man who died as 58-year-old Gordon Wanser.

In all, 11 residents were forced to flee and two people were taken to a hospital, though their names and the nature of their injuries haven’t been released.

The American Red Cross is helping find shelter for those left homeless.

Hazleton is about 90 miles northwest of Philadelphia.
