BOONE, Iowa (AP) - A historic bridge near Boone has partially collapsed into the Des Moines River.

Officials with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources say the west side of the Wagon Wheel Bridge collapsed Thursday afternoon. The bridge was damaged in late February by flowing ice.

Officials are urging kayakers and canoeists to avoid the area just southwest of Boone until it is cleaned up.
