JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - A Juneau man is in jail after police say he caused a disturbance and then used bear spray on two officers before fleeing.

Officers responded to an area near Bartlett Regional Hospital Thursday afternoon after getting reports that the 29-year-old man was threatening to kill people. Police say in a release that when officers arrived, the man sprayed two officers in the face. A third was also caught by the spray.

The three officers were treated by ambulance personnel and later returned to duty.

Two other officers responded to the area and found the man about 20 minutes later on the shores of Twin Lakes. He was arrested on three misdemeanor counts of assaulting an officer. Online court records didn’t indicate charges had been filed yet against the man.
