ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - The president of Albuquerque Public Schools Board of Education has undergone triple bypass surgery after suffering a heart attack.

KOAT-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1TAw1fQ ) that Dr. David Peercy suffered a heart attack on Thursday while playing handball. He was taken to a hospital for surgery and is expected to be released Sunday.

District officials say Peercy was revived with a defibrillator before being taken to the hospital.

Officials say his prognosis is good and that he hopes to return to Board of Education meetings beginning March 16.
