HACKENSACK, N.J. (AP) - A former fire captain and football coach has admitted to videotaping people as they used the bathroom in his northern New Jersey home during a pool party.

The Record newspaper reports (https://bit.ly/1U66oU3 ) 45-year-old Mitchell Morreale pleaded guilty Thursday to invasion of privacy. Under a plea deal, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office has agreed to drop a more serious charge and will seek probation when he’s sentenced on May 6.

Prosecutors say the volunteer firefighter hosted a pool party for his son at his Lyndhurst home in June 2015. Authorities say one of the teens that was using Morreale’s bathroom noticed a light in the closet that turned out to be a recording device.

Defense attorney John Chiaia says he hid the camera because he suspected drug use in the bathroom.
