LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) - Long Beach police have shot and killed a man they say pulled a gun during a chase.

The man died Thursday at a hospital. His name hasn’t been released.

Police say officers on a violent-crime patrol spotted a car being driven suspiciously and evasively Thursday evening.

Before they could pull it over, the car suddenly stopped in the middle of a street and a passenger got out and fled.

Police say officers chased the man to an alley, where he pulled a gun, refused to drop it and was shot.

A gun was found at the scene.
