COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. (AP) - Authorities say a 30-year-old man serving a life sentence for the 2004 slaying of his girlfriend has died in a Pennsylvania prison.

Graterford prison spokeswoman Wendy Shaylor says Micah Stewart was found dead in his cell early Wednesday.

Officials say prison guards found Stewart during rounds and administered first aid. He was pronounced dead about 45 minutes after the guards found him.

It’s unclear what led up to his death.

Stewart was convicted in the killing of his 19-year-old girlfriend, Cortney Fry. Prosecutors say Stewart pierced Fry’s head with a screwdriver because he doubted he was the father of her child. Tests later showed that he was the father.
