BOISE, Idaho (AP) - An Idaho Senate panel is backing legislation that would offer limited immunity to underage people who call for medical help during alcohol-related illnesses.

House Bill 521 would shield people under the age of 21 from consumption or minor-in-possession charges if they seek medical treatment for themselves or other people in cases of alcohol-related illnesses.

The Senate Judiciary and Rules unanimously approved the measure on Friday.

The bill, which has already passed the House, now moves to the Senate floor.
