TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - The Arizona Attorney General’s Office says a Tucson family has been permanently banned from engaging in any automobile or paving activity in the state.

The AG’s Office announced Friday that A&D;’s Auto Care and Desert Paveing violated the Arizona Consumer Fraud Act and scammed customers out of thousands of dollars.

The owners of the companies have to pay more than $18,000 in consumer restitution as part of an order for default judgment plus $100,000 in civil penalties and almost $17,000 for the state’s attorney’s fees and costs.

The judgment resolves the state’s consumer fraud lawsuit filed last June.

The AG’s Office says the defendants accepted money for auto repairs that consumers never received.

They also say the defendants offered paving, pavement repair and cleaning services that they failed to complete.
