SOMERVILLE, Mass. (AP) - A mainstay of the Boston-area live music circuit is closing its doors in style after nearly half a century in operation.

Johnny D’s, in Somerville, is hosting an open house this weekend that includes free concerts, a live jazz brunch and a send-off from New Orleans-style brass bands.

Owner Carla DeLellis says she’ll officially close the club following performances from two brass bands late Sunday afternoon. The celebration will end with dozens of musicians and supporters parading through the streets of Davis Square.

DeLellis is redeveloping the restaurant and music venue’s longtime home near Tufts University into new commercial and residential space.

The venue hosted an eclectic mix of national and local rock, blues, jazz, country, R&B;, gospel, funk and other acts in its 47 years.
