MONTICELLO, Minn. (AP) - The Minnesota State Patrol says a man in a wheelchair was struck and killed on a highway near Monticello.

Authorities say 51-year-old Robert Haire of Monticello was heading north in the right-turn lane of Highway 25 near Kjellberg Court on Saturday morning when he was struck by a pickup heading in the same direction.

Haire was taken to CentraCare Health Clinic in Monticello, where he died.

A 29-year-old woman from Buffalo, Minnesota, was driving the Dodge Dakota. No alcohol was detected on either person.

The Star Tribune (https://strib.mn/1pDIGly ) reports the scene is near commercial stores and restaurants on both sides of the highway.
