DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Michael Barnes won the Daytona 200 motorcycle race Saturday at age 47 to become the oldest champion in the event at Daytona International Speedway.

Coming out of retirement to race in the 75th running of the event, Barnes beat Yamaha rider Geoff May by 10.084 seconds. Wyatt Farris finished third, also on a Yamaha.

“I’m kind of speechless and fumbling for words,” Barnes said. “All of the people who helped me … you know who you are. I just can’t thank everybody enough. This one is for quite a few people.”
