DOVER, Del. (AP) - Dover police say a 16-year-old boy has died after being hit by a car while crossing the street.

Authorities say Enfimus Deputy was trying to cross Route 13 near Evergreen Drive about 8 p.m. Friday when he was struck.

Police say Deputy was wearing dark clothing and crossing in an area where there was no crosswalk and no lighting.

Investigator say the boy was struck by a Chevrolet Impala traveling northbound, and that a black 1990’s model Ford Mustang may also have been involved in the accident, but left the area before police arrived.
