ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - An assistant football coach at the University of New Mexico has been arrested for driving while under the influence.

Head coach Bob Davie confirmed the Thursday arrest in a statement.

According to Davie, Apollo Wright informed him of the arrest.

He was stopped by police and booked on suspicion of DWI.

Davie says he will continue to monitor the situation as it unfolds but called the matter “obviously disappointing.”

No other details about the arrest were given.

Wright is a running backs coach and a special teams coordinator for the Lobos.

He has been with the football program for three years.

Wright did not immediately return a message seeking comment Saturday.
