ANIWA, Wis. (AP) - A driver is dead after his semi-tanker crashed in northeastern Wisconsin and leaked thousands of gallons of gasoline.

The Wisconsin State Patrol says the 29-year-old man from Ringle lost control when he drove onto the shoulder of U.S. 45 on Saturday morning.

The tanker overturned, spilling about 5,000 gallons of gas from its punctured tank. Wausau Daily Herald Media reports a hazardous materials team was called to the scene.

The driver died at the scene. WSAW-TV reports the State Patrol identifies the victim as Shane Low.

The Langlade County Sheriff’s Department says a stretch of U.S. 45 was closed but has since reopened.
