MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - As the spring turkey hunting season approaches, the Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department is hosting two free seminars on the topic next month.

Hunter Education Training Coordinator John Pellegrini says both experienced and first-time turkey hunters stand to benefit from the seminars on April 2 and April 3.

He says instructors will cover safe hunting practices, specialized equipment, calls, site setup, and other strategies for harvesting turkeys.

The April 2 seminar takes place at the Barre Fish and Game Club and the April 3 one is at the Hartland Fire Department. Both seminars will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Vermont’s spring turkey hunting season runs from May 1-31, with a youth turkey hunting weekend on April 25 and 26.
