LEXINGTON, S.C. (AP) - Officials have identified two people killed in a motorcycle wreck in Lexington.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher said in a statement that the wreck happened around 1:30 p.m. Sunday at an intersection on state Highway 6.

The coroner said 43-year-old Wayne E. Whitworth Jr. of Columbia was operating the motorcycle and his wife, 40-year-old Kristie Ann Mason of Columbia was a passenger.

Fisher said the motorcycle ran a stop sign and was hit by a minivan traveling west on state Highway 6. Whitworth and Mason died at the scene. The driver and passengers of the minivan were not hurt.

Autopsies were planned Monday.

The coroner’s office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating.
