SACO, Maine (AP) - Authorities say a Maine man was rescued by firefighters who found him clinging to his boat after it capsized off the Saco River.

The Saco Fire Department received a report for a boater in distress around 2 p.m. Sunday.

Capt. Marc Paquette says the boat’s motor became disabled, leaving the man stranded in the river near Ram Island.

The man wasn’t wearing a life preserver but was able to hold onto the 17-foot-long boat after a wave capsized it. Rescue crews pulled him out of the water and into their vessel.

Authorities say the man wasn’t injured. He wasn’t immediately identified.
