HELENA, Mont. (AP) - The state Labor Department says Montana’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate held steady at 4.1 percent in January.

Labor Commissioner Pam Bucy says payroll employment grew by 1,300 jobs in January, with most of the gains coming in retail, construction and manufacturing jobs.

Montana’s labor force includes nearly 524,000 people, with just over 21,650 unemployed.

The national unemployment rate was 4.9 percent in January, with 7.8 million people unemployed.

Montana’s unemployment rate hovered around 4 percent for most of 2015.
