DETROIT (AP) - Police in Detroit have announced the results of a citywide crime crackdown that officials say was sparked by an increase in shootings and robberies.

The crackdown on Friday led to 19 felony and 12 misdemeanor arrests.

Police say eight guns were confiscated, and 40 grams of cocaine and 18 grams of heroin were seized.

Nearly 480 tickets were issued to drivers for moving violations and 52 vehicles were impounded. About 50 gas stations and convenience stores were inspected.
