MILTON, N.Y. (AP) - State police say a 76-year-old woman has died in a fire at her Saratoga County home.

Troopers say firefighters responded around 6 p.m. Sunday to a report of a blaze at a home in the town of Milton, 25 miles north of Albany.

A trooper who arrived at the scene was told by neighbors that the disabled resident of the house was believed to still be inside. The trooper and firefighters attempted to enter the home but were driven back to intense heat and smoke.

Firefighters extinguished the flames and entered the home, where they found the owner’s body. Troopers on Monday identified her as Judith Skokan.

No exact cause of death has been determined. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday at Saratoga Hospital.

Troopers say the cause of the fire appears to have been electrical in nature.
