BECKLEY, W.Va. (AP) - Authorities have arrested a man on felony charges in connection with a late night shooting that sent one person to the hospital.

Sgt. Morgan Bragg with the Beckley Police Department tells local news outlets that officials arrested 19-year-old Hameen Cowan Sunday evening on charges of attempted first degree murder, malicious wounding, and first degree robbery.

Police say Cowan was involved in Saturday night’s shooting in Beckley that sent a 15-year-old to the hospital. The victim was shot in the chest and is listed in serious by stable condition.

Bragg says an investigation suggests that the shooting stemmed from a robbery attempt.

Cowan was taken to the West Virginia Region Jail and Correctional Facility Authority. It’s unclear if he has an attorney.
