CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - Heavy snow fell on parts of western and central Wyoming as strong winds buffeted much of the state.

The National Weather Service posted winter storm warnings Monday for extreme western Wyoming, including the Jackson, Afton and Evanston areas.

Winter storm warnings also are in effect for the Wind River Range in central Wyoming and the Snowy Range and Sierra Madre Mountains in the south-central part of the state.

A foot or more of snow was possible in the mountains with 3 to 8 inches falling in lower elevations.

Winter weather advisories are posted for the Rock Springs, Pinedale and Kemmerer areas.

Winds gusting up to 65 mph hampered travelers, especially those with trucks and trailers, along both the Interstate 80 and 25 corridors.
