ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - State troopers say a western New York man is in custody after he hit two cars and tried to flee from police over the weekend.

It happened Saturday around 8:45 p.m. when troopers in Rochester tried to pull over 32-year-old Joseph Green. Police say the Rochester man initially stopped, but fled once he gave a trooper his identification.

Troopers say Green hit two vehicles, struck a tree and then fled on foot before being captured.

Green faces driving while intoxicated, reckless endangerment and related charges. It’s unclear if he has an attorney.

A trooper and Green had to be treated at a hospital for injuries sustained to their hands while climbing a barbed-wire fence during the chase.
