RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - Authorities are investigating whether a man who brought a freezer to South Dakota containing the body of his elderly mother kept the body hidden so he could collect her Social Security checks.

Pennington County Sheriff Kevin Thom tells the Rapid City Journal (https://bit.ly/1UwiBQG ) Stewart Zebrowski brought the freezer to Rapid City when he moved there in 2013.

However, authorities don’t know if Zebrowski had put the body of Adele Zebrowski in the freezer. The son died after moving to South Dakota.

Authorities believe Adele Zebrowski lived in Arkansas with her son before he moved. Her body was found Thursday. The sheriff’s office says preliminary autopsy results indicate she died of natural causes, but they’re not yet sure when she died.

Stewart Zebrowski also went by the last name Zebrosky.
