ALLENDALE, Mich. (AP) - A former office coordinator at Grand Valley State University who was charged with embezzlement in connection with the theft of more than $76,000 from the school has been sentenced to probation.

The Grand Rapids Press (https://bit.ly/1RKE3Nb ) reports 44-year-old Lynnea MacGeorge was sentenced Monday to a year of probation and 100 hours of community service.

MacGeorge pleaded guilty last month to one count of embezzlement by an agent or trustee of $20,000 or more but less than $50,000. A count of embezzlement of more than $50,000 but less than $100,000 was dropped.

The school has said MacGeorge resigned in June from the Athletic and Recreation Facilities Management office on the Allendale campus near Grand Rapids. Authorities said MacGeorge embezzled $76,346 from the university beginning in 2012.
