MOSCOW, Idaho (AP) - A former bookkeeper for an Idaho ice rink will spend 60 days in jail and 14 years on probation for embezzlement charges.

The Lewiston Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1nLizaF ) that 30-year-old Mary C. Bentley of Moscow’s charges were reduced after a plea agreement. Prosecutors say she stole more than $30,000 from the Palouse Ice Rink through a series of unauthorized checks and electronic transfers.

Judge John R. Stegner’s ruling will allow Bentley’s charge to be dismissed if she successfully completes the terms of her probation.

Stegner says 60 days in jail is appropriate given the magnitude of the crime and the amount of money involved.

Defense attorney Catherine Mabutt asked the judge to let Bentley serve her time on weekends so she can continue working and pay her restitution.
