TOWN OF BUCHANAN, Wis. (AP) - Authorities say a man fatally shot himself at a town hall in east-central Wisconsin.

Outagamie County Sheriff’s Lt. Terry Hammen says the man walked into the Town of Buchanan Town Hall shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday, produced a handgun and fired it.

Hammen says the man’s death is presumed to be a suicide. Authorities are trying to identify him.

Other people witnessed the shooting but no one else was hurt. Investigators are talking to witnesses.

About 6,900 people live in the Town of Buchanan, which is near Appleton. The town has canceled its board meeting that was scheduled Tuesday night.
