ATLANTA (AP) - Authorities have released the name of a city worker in Atlanta who was killed after being struck by a falling tree limb.

Local media outlets report that the incident happened Monday morning.

Atlanta Fire Rescue spokesman Cortez Stafford told the Atlanta Journal Constitution that Donald Rembert was cutting down a tree limb when the limb fell on Rembert, knocking him from the bucket truck he was using for the project.

He died on the scene.

Mayor Kasim Reed said in a statement that Rembert was an employee with the city for 29 years. Reed said Rembert was only a few months away from retirement.

Reed said the city will conduct a thorough investigation to determine exactly what happened.
