NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Federal regulators have formed a four-member panel to investigate the death of a man who was working on an oil platform rig in the Gulf of Mexico.

The Interior Department’s Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement says Roy Miller, a Nabors Drilling employee, was fatally injured last Thursday during “maintenance activities” performed for Houston-based oil and gas operator Whistler Energy LLC.

The agency has provided few details about the incident, but it says no pollution or additional injuries were reported.

The panel formed to investigate the causes of the incident includes a well operations inspector and an engineer.

The platform rig is located approximately 150 miles south of New Orleans. All drilling operations were suspended following Miller’s death.
