TROY, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a 30-year-old woman and her 4-year-old daughter are hospitalized and 20 other people are homeless after fire tore through an apartment building in Troy.

Fire officials say the fire was reported around 11:30 p.m. Monday in a three-story brick building on Congress Street.

The injured woman and girl have been taken to Albany Medical Center where officials say they’re being treated for second-degree burns.

Fire crews extinguished the blaze. Investigators are trying to determine what caused the fire.

The American Red Cross is assisting about 10 families by housing them in hotel rooms while volunteers are collecting clothing, food and supplies for the displaced residents.
