TOWN OF EAGLE POINT, Wis. (AP) - Chippewa County sheriff’s officials say a man found dead this week in the Town of Eagle Point is apparently a homicide victim.

The body of the 31-year-old man was discovered in the grass by a passer-by on Monday in the town north of Chippewa Falls.

Sheriff James Kowalczyk (koh-WAL’-zik) says the man was from Eau Claire and had visible wounds on his body. He did not elaborate.

Kowalczyk says people in the area reported hearing gunshots and a vehicle leaving the area Sunday night. The sheriff says a blood trail was found leading from the road to the lawn where the man’s body was found.
